Biofuels

SWBEC produces a variety of biofuels, including methane, biodiesel, acetone, butanol and ethanol. Methane is primarily a product of anaerobic digesters, and biodiesel is a product of RABR technology. We make biodiesel using our wet lipid extraction method, a way of removing the lipids or fuel component of the algae in wet form as opposed to dry form. This method saves on energy costs for biodiesel production.
